The IICP is conducting basic peace and conflict research, as well as project accompanying research.
The IICP also follows an integrative, trans-disciplinary approach in the field of research. The Institute would like to contribute to the revival of peace and conflict research by combining critical, empiric and constructivist approaches.
The IICP is committed to encouraging the transfer of practical action into academic knowledge, and vice versa, in all its research activities, so that the research focus remains relevant for practical conflict transformation and peace-building.
In cooperation with renowned academics (especially Johan Galtung, Edgar Morin, Matthias Varga von Kibed), the IICP is currently involved in the following areas of basic peace and conflict research:
- A Complex Theory of Peace, Comparative Studies of Peace Processes and Peace Politics;
- A Complex Theory of Civilisations, Intercultural Dialogue and Peace Education;
- A Methodology of Integrative Conflict Transformation and Peace Building;
- "Mass Psychology" and Peace: Jakob Levy Moreno, Elias Canetti and Hermann Broch as Jewish Pioneers of Trans-disciplinary Peace Research.
IICP´s project accompanying research is currently mainly focused on Sri Lanka. For more information see Interdisziplinäres Forschungsprojekt - Friedensfördernde Maßnahmen im Vergleich.
